How many formal evenings on 2 week cruise?

How many formal evenings will there be on a 2 week Meditterranean Cruise and any suggestions as to what to take in the way of clothing etc. Trip is in August/06. Don't want to take much because of weight limit on planes, plus we will be on shore more than on ship during this time because of land tours. I know I will need good walking shoes but anything else anyone can recommend.

You need to tell us what cruise line, as that makes a big difference. If it's something like Celebrity, it will be three formal nights, Crystal it's 4 and Seabourn it could be as many as 5.

A two week cruise on Princess will have 3 formal nights.

Definitely take lightweight clothing - no denim- as it is hot in August and it will be crowded.

 

Mostly people wear what you would see at home in the summer months for daytime wear. Capris, slacks, skirts, dresses, shorts, etc.

If your planning to visit any churches on your tours be aware of the dresscode.

 

Formal nights are formal and I tend to believe from what I've read on these boards that on the European cruises you will find more people dressed formally then you would in the Caribbean.
