Drink package upgrade in the Mediterranean

Has anybody upgraded an Aurea drink package(all-inclusive) to a Deluxe package on a sailing in the Mediterranean?I sailed with the MSC Seaside in March and will be sailing the MSC Bellissima next summer. On the Seaside I upgraded our drink packages, 56$ per week, so I wanted to upgrade our packages next year too, but they tell me the price to upgrade to the Deluxe package cost over three times as much for my sailing with the Bellissima. Can that really be the case? Does anybody have any experience with upgrading drink packages in the Mediterranean?

The difference in price between the basic and deluxe packages is greater on Med cruises, thereby the cost to upgrade is a lot more than for US sailings. The 'All-Inclusive Restaurant & Bar Drinks Package' (basic) is €26 ($29) and the 'Deluxe' is €50 ($55). The 'Classic' (basic) on US sailings is $47, which is more expensive, as you can see, than the basic on Med sailings:
