Hello, we are looking for 2-4 people to form a group to lower the cost

of shore excursions in Vietnam.

We planned Cu Chi Tunnels on day of our arrival to Saigon. The tour

will leave after we dock. We'll come back later that afternoon about 5

PM.

The cost of the tour is $ 20/pp for 4 people total or $ 15 pp for 6 of

us. It includes private A.C car , English speaking guide , entrance fee.

The Mekong delta tour leaves at 6:30 AM so we can be back by 3 PM.

It's $ 25/pp for group of 4 or $ 18/pp for group of 6.

Oceanea offers same tour to Cu Chi for $ 49/pp and to Mekong My Tho

for $ 59/pp.

My wife and I both "experienced" the 30-meter section of the Cu Chi tunnels that has been enlarged enough for westerners to crawl through. About half of the people in our bus group gave it a try. It was an interesting experience, but as you say, if you have any reservations about it, you would be better off staying above ground. You can still get a very good idea of the way they are constructed from above ground.
