Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2004 It has been our experience that anywhere from 1/3 to 2/3 of those who post on ROLL CALLS actually are ever seen on the ship - after indicating they will meet.. VanessaC322 Posted April 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2004 On our March Paradise cruise, about 25 people showed up. Pretty much everyone from our roll call and we had met people that were on our independently booked excursions on the Port of Call section, so we knew a lot of people before we left. My husband thought it was a riot that people kept coming up to me and saying, "Are you Vanessa?". Apparently I had described myself pretty well! eerbeek Posted April 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2004 On Victory, pretty much all who were checking into the boards for the month before leaving showed up to the meet & greet. Maybe 20-30 of us. CruiseFever Posted April 1, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 1, 2004 On our last cruise we had everyone that posted on the roll call come. Like mentioned above it was nice to meet everyone and then see them throughout the week. pungo3 Posted April 1, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 1, 2004 My experience has varied tremendously. On the Pride, we had at least 50 people show up. On the Conquest, only 6 and on the Legend, only 2. It is great to exchange information & to see friendly faces throughout the cruise. I highly recommend making the "roll call meet & greet" if at all possible. I still stay in touch, outside Cruisecritic, with some of the people I've met. serene56 Posted April 1, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 1, 2004 Are most meet and greets held beofre the musters? On our Victory we met very little people. So when we took the VOyager I tried a different tactic. Meeting the first night after both dinners were done in a quiet lounge. We decided 10:30 was the perfect time. People are so scrambled when they first get onboard with getting aqauinted with the ship and getting ready for the muster drill and dinner. 4:30 is a rather hectic time. Before we left we set the first meeting for the first night but we also had stuff planned for during the week...like Royals Meet and Greet party on Monday. We also had enough people to do a cabin tour of very available category except the grand suites. So we also planned that too. It was nice running into people all week that you knew all about. Lyndac chap2b Posted April 2, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 2, 2004 We just got off of the Mar 20th sailing of the Triumph--we called ourselves the 'spring flingers'....and I'd say we had about a 98% turnout of the 'regular posters' to the meet and greet. Of course--in the 4 months before cruising--we ended up filling over 70 pages of posts! We booked excursions together---and ate lunches together as well...and oh, did we laugh together! The thing that struck me---is how much everybody that regularly posted tended to have in common. There were 2 different age groups. The youngsters (in their 20's) and the oldsters but young at heart (in our 40's)and most of the 'oldsters' had kids around the same age. Unfortunately--we're spread out all over the country--and it's not going to be easy to re-create this with the same, wonderful and warm people ....but wow, we sure had a great time for those 7 days...and the 4 months before weren't too shabby either. I feel like I developed quite a few life long friends with this CC and Triumph experience. pazooter Posted April 2, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 2, 2004 On Jubilee, Inspiration and Fantasy, everyone who indicated they would meet us, actually did, though not at the appointed place and time. We even found a CC couple on Inspiration who recognized me and approached us. She called herself a "lurker". Hope she's participating more on CC now. Bruce also laughed each time someone would come up and say, "Are you Cathy?" Our upcoming Star cruise has a spreadsheet going of families and cabins. I'm sure we'll all meet, eventually. oceantravel Posted April 2, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I was bummed not to meet our gropu! ONE BIG SUGGESTION!!!! Set up twqo meeting times for your group before you leave. We were to meet after the muster drill, but found that we had early dinner. We went to our meeting place but no one was there yet. We had to leave for our 5:45 dinner so we missed them. If there would have been two meeting times set up in advance we would have had a second chance to meet up. Missturie Posted April 2, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Tom-n-Cheryl I somehow lost the paper that had your room number for the meet and greet after the muster drill on the Glory. We were disappointed that we didn't get a chance to meet everyone but I didn't know how else to locate you and other CC members. Wouldn't it be nice if they had a public bulletin board where passengers could post messages for other passengers? We had a wonderful cruise despite the rocking. Actually, I kind of enjoyed the rocking and got a kick out of watching people try to walk around without bumping into each other. I even saw a guy fall off his bar stool in the casino bar when the ship rocked. It was pretty funny. Pam

Em6554 Posted September 13, 2004 #23 Share Posted September 13, 2004 We had about 75% show up on our recent voyage on the Conquest. hstrybuf Posted September 14, 2004 #25 Share Posted September 14, 2004 We set up two meeting times on two different days on the Legend in April. The first day was before sailaway and I'd say a pretty good percentage of our group showed. At the second time, on a sea day, it was the same bunch minus a few. I did end up meeting one or two who had forgotten about the group and enjoyed meeting everyone!
