screenname2004 Posted September 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Our cruise next Apr will end on a Sunday but our flight from MIA won't leave till mid-morning Monday. We plan to just relax for the day but will have a rental car. Any hotel recommendations in the $100~$150 range?
JohninDC Posted September 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2018 How close to Easter in April? Your budget could be an issue. www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel info - I would start your search there. Some of the budget options near FLL airport might work. The drive from there to MIA for your flight home will take about an hour, maybe more :( , in Monday morning traffic. JohninDC Posted September 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Some schools have vacation the week before Easter, some the week after Easter. I would book something ASAP that can be cancelled without penalty, and then keep shopping! ;)
screenname2004 Posted September 27, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted September 27, 2018 .I will book something shortly but want to hear from members if they have recommendations for hotel/motel that not necessarily close to the airport or ports
screenname2004 Posted September 30, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted September 30, 2018 How is the area around Hampton Inn at 250 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33301? Don't think we will want to walk around there at night but want to have some idea about the neighborhood.

How is it compares to the Home2 nearby?
KroozFoolz Posted October 5, 2018 #9 Share Posted October 5, 2018 I have stayed at that Springhill and would stay there again. I have not stayed at that Home2 (or any Home2) so I can't comment on that. I have stayed at the LaQuinta three times pre-cruise (2016, 2017, and 2018) and have it booked again for March 2019. screenname2004 Posted October 5, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted October 5, 2018 Thanks. I have not stayed at Home2. I saw some pictures of Home2 in one of the "Cheapo Dad" trip report and it looks like a new property.
SteerageJoe Posted October 5, 2018 #11 Share Posted October 5, 2018 The Springhill Suites is on the East side of I-95 and within walking distance of a few restaurants and shops although you must cross a busy road. Home2 is on the west side of I-95 and it is a very busy and unpleasant walk to anything from there.

Checking to see if you are talking about the LaQuinta at 2620 N. 26th Street? We were considering this hotel for our pre-cruise night Feb 22, 2019. We will be arriving probably before lunch time and are not planning on renting a car for the day. I think I read that they have free shuttle from airport and you can take a shuttle from there to the port for $8. It doesn't look like anything is close by to walk to. Can you tell me what my options would be? Do they have a local shuttle? None of us have Uber so our other option would be to take a Taxi somewhere to spend the day. Thanks much. Thanks much.Maryell Yes, that's the one. Yes, they have a free shuttle from the airport. They use an independent shuttle provider to the port - $8 pp was the cost the last time I used it (April 2017). If you put the address in google maps, you can see what is close by - restaurants, shopping, and movies. Since I had my car, we drove to Miller's Ale House and to Sweet Tomatoes. I recall a fellow cc roll call member who also stayed there report that the hotel shuttled her to Red Lobster and KMart. (We were going to walk to Sweet Tomatoes but there were pop up rain showers so we drove.) https://www.google.com/maps/place/2620+N+26th+Ave,+Hollywood,+FL+33020/@26.0388593,-80.1603866,17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x88d9aa4c9d4f2c2f:0x4288f1de38ca02f2!8m2!3d26.0378712!4d-80.1595605

Good to hear that the neighborhood is good enough to walk if we wanted to but still have options to use the hotel shuttle to get somewhere. They had decent prices for February and the reviews were also ok. Safe travels to you!
