My daughters family is going on a Disney cruise out of Miami on 4/24, .2 adults and two kids. They have flights to FLL 2 days early- saving about $900 over flying into Miami, and will hopefully stay in the Ft Lauderdale area on Monday & Tuesday night before the cruise. Would it be best to rent a car for the 4 of them for the first two day and then possible drop it off @ POM the morning of the cruise or book a round trip on one of the limo services or even do an Uber. They have never been to south Florida before and wanted to do some beach time before the cruise. I think it would be better to stay in FLL/Dania area and then take a limo to POM & them same limo back to FLL airport on Sunday when they get back. Does anyone know if you can drop a rental @ the POM- possibly only a few rental agencies have drop off areas.

www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info - check it out! ;)

There are no car rental agencies located at POM. :( If they rent from National, Alamo, Thrifty or Enterprise they can drop the car off at the MIA airport car rental center and ride the free shuttle to POM. If they get a good deal from some other agency and return the car to MIA airport a taxi to the port will run $27+tip - for 4 plus bags they will need an SUV/minivan taxi. Avis, Hertz and others have locations in downtown Miami and usually shuttle to POM - if not a taxi to POM will run about $13+tip

They could return the car to an office in the FLL area and then ride a taxi, shared shuttle, UberXL or limo to POM. Taxi fare from FLL airport and nearby hotels to POM will be about $70+ and UberXL will be about the same fare. Shared shuttles from SAS, QLS, MJS, Go Airport and others are usually $15 per person - check the company web site to see if they pick up at the hotel they choose or ride from FLL after returning the car. Larry's Limos is often suggested (we were happy) and Go Airport (based at FLL) also offers private transport options -- contact them for a quote. The ride between FLL and POM usually takes about 40-45 min, depending upon traffic.

I hope they have a great cruise!
