lido1 Posted September 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2018 I will be going on a cruise with my girlfriend. I usually cruise with my husband so I haven't had to deal with this situation. We are in the process of purchasing insurance. Travelex/Travelguard etc. We want to know if one of us has to cancel and the other still wants to go on the cruise, do we need to pay the single supplement or will insurance cover this? Thanks . . . klfrodo Posted October 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2018 That is something that would be spelled out in your insurance policy. or something to be asked by the person selling you the insurance. Usually, the process would be 1 person cancels. The other person "may" be charged the single supplement. The other person pays the single supplement if required out of their pocket. After the cruise is completed, that person files a claim with their insurance and receives the reimbursement. Travel insurance is a reimbursement (Indemnity) based insurance.
