Rare pierces Posted August 1, 2019 #26 Share Posted August 1, 2019 So... Sony just registered a camera with a spec for 5.8gHz wi-fi. This second high-band frequency was first listed on the registration of the A7rIV, so it is unlikely that it is an RX or P&S. A9II, A7sIII and the as-yet-unnamed A6500 successor are the likely contenders. For all the good it will do, my vote is for the APS-C mystery model. Rare pierces Posted August 9, 2019 #27 Share Posted August 9, 2019 So... Sonyalpharumors.com just posted a "very likely" follow-up on the subject in my previous post. "Sony will announce two new APS-C E-mount cameras in late August" and... "The A6500 is EOL (End of life)." and... "The A6500 successor will more or less have the same A6500 design with a bigger grip to fit the new Sony NP-FZ100 battery" Zero info on the second camera. Panasonic GH competitor? Compact A5100 replacement? The "two APS-C" rumor was from two previously accurate sources so I guess we'll stay tuned. I'll head on over to the Zoltar kiosk at the mall, drop a quarter and see what he says. Dave
zackiedawg Posted August 9, 2019 #28 Share Posted August 9, 2019 If that rumor ended up true, it would be 100% perfect for me. A6xxx style body, slightly larger grip to accommodate FZ battery, and A9 performance on APS-C sensor. Exactly what I'd love. I'd still be OK with center EVF and larger body design with all the same specs too...both perfectly acceptable. Here's to hoping the rumors are indeed true...and particularly with regards to all the true A9 features - fast-readout electronic shutter, no-blackout EVF, and beast-mode tracking. Justin and Dave: Thanks for the update. Will be cruising in September (knock wood!) with my 6300 and 6400 - dreaming of what might have been if it were a 6700/7000 which probably will not be available until October/November). And looking forward to Aaron's (and Justin and Dave's) full scale review! (yes - I know - it's not the camera that's important!)

But there's nothing wrong with shiny and new if that isn't the only reason you bought it! 😉 Dave
