daddie0 Posted October 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2018 We are due to dock in 3 hours and we had a plan to kayak/snorkel but due to wind conditions, we are no longer. I am concerned even a beach day may be unpleasant today? For others that have been, what can we do to "see" this island while here? Thanks!! myfuzzy Posted October 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2018 1. Go to the Shore excursions desk and see what they have available for land tours 2. Get off the ship and there are probably hundreds of locals who would love your business. There are many interesting land tours....try going up the tram to the top of the mountain for lunch and a drink, that's a fun place, as well as taking a taxi to downtown and explore the town's history. If you are into Kmart, there is one up the block from the dock (if you are docking at Havensite), to pick up necessities or souvenir tsotchkes
Ms411 Posted October 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2018 Which kayak snorkel tour? The wind doesn't usually stop the mangrove kayak snorkel. The other tour goes across open ocean. Some of the beaches are in protected coves (Coki, Magens, Secret Harbor) so those may be calmer.
daddie0 Posted October 17, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted October 17, 2018 It was a Coral Cay excursion, so yes over the open sea. Your posts have been helpful! Thx!
Ms411 Posted October 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2018 The contact for the other company is VI Ecotours at 3407792155. They may have a tour starting soon.
Loonbeam Posted October 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2018 If no tours, I would just take a taxi over to the cable car before the crowd hits, get up there and see how the weather changes. If not snorkel weather, book a taxi guide for a quick tour, as all the private vendors will probably be booked.
