Leaning towards St. Thomas but considering St. John

We will be docking at Charlotte Amalie from 8am until 5pm.  We have pretty much decided just to stay in St. Thomas and visit one of the beaches there (Sapphire, Secret Harbour or Coki) but should we consider catching the ferry over to St. John?  I would love to see Cinnamon Bay or even Trunks Bay (huge Kenny Chesney fan here lol) but would we be rushing and wasting our time just traveling?  I know that Trunks bay doesn't have any food/drinks available at the moment...is the same for Cinnamon Bay?  This is our first time to St. Thomas so maybe we should just stay at that island explore.  What would you guys (and ladies) choose to do?

Thanks!

Amanda

We were contemplating the same thing, but have decided to stay in St.Thomas due to the travel time. We decided to rent a 1/2 day charter and go snorkeling to see the sea turtles and Honeymoon Beach. This should also leave us time to explore the port area as well. There seems to be a lot to do in St.Thomas with its many beaches.

St John isn't going anywhere and you will probably be taking future cruises so plan on visiting St John on a future cruise when both Trunk and Cinnamon have their usual amenities.

If you take an island tour of St Thomas that includes a 1 1/2 hour beach stop, it will be a great day and you'll have plenty of beautiful photos.

If you Google St Thomas Virgin Islands tours lots of good tour operators will pop up and you can see the various tours offered.
