Dorset Cruiser Posted October 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2018 We have the drinks package on our upcoming Braemar cruise. Does this package include bottles of water?
Dorset Cruiser Posted October 24, 2018 Author #2 Share Posted October 24, 2018 If the package does not include bottles of water, is it in order for us to take water onboard?
Micksregan Posted October 24, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2018 Drinks package does not include bottled water, but we have never been stopped from taking our own on board. Hope this helps. Mick
Coravel Posted October 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2018 You don't need bottled water. The tap water is safe to drink.
Travelingman52 Posted October 25, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2018 What the drinks package does include is a 50% on the price of the litre bottles in your cabin.
RocketmanRon Posted October 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) You don't need bottled water. The tap water is safe to drink. But doesn't taste very good, to me at least. Same with the water you get when dining, I prefer the wine. You get a 1.5 litre bottle of water in your cabin and that costs £1.50 if you drink it or 75p if AI. My wife takes a 500ml bottle and fills it up from the 1.5l bottle as required. All bags are x-rayed when returning to the ship after being ashore. Coravel Posted October 29, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2018 I'm quite happy with the taste of the water and we have particularly good water where we live. If you prefer to buy water or soft drinks ashore they will allow you to bring it back on board. Only alcohol gets confiscated.
SausPud Posted November 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 3, 2018 I was in a Suite and we got a 500ml bottle of water each for free every day. You just had to fill in a request form the night before and the cabin steward brings it the next time they visit.
tring Posted November 3, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 3, 2018 As Coravel says - no prob bring water or soft drinks on board. We find that useful if in a location where water and soft drinks are cheap, though not so useful in Scandinavia given their prices. We always take some om embarkation if sailing from the UK and find the bar staff are happy to provide glasses of ice for our diet cola, or you can ask for ice on room service.. Coravel Posted November 4, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 4, 2018 I think all the cabins have fridges with a small freezer section now. But that's a good tip to get a glass of ice from the bar! Thanks Tring.
SausPud Posted November 4, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 4, 2018 or get your Cabin Steward to bring a bucket of ice at turndown service. Then in the morning it is all melted into nice cool water that you can pour into a bottle ready for the day.
tring Posted November 8, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 8, 2018 Another point is that the bars are quite happy to give you glasses of water - we often take a pint glass each back to the cabin at night, so find our bottled water is not used much.
