Northern Bear Posted January 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2006 Hi, My wife and I are looking to take an East coast (doesn't matter where) to West coast cruise. Preferably getting off in Vancouver but doesn't really matter. Have cruised Carnival, Princess and RCI before but are open to anything. We are thinking of 2007 sometime, either spring or fall most likely. 2 weeks or less, balcony cabin. Any ideas or recommendations? TIA, NB. slk4485 Posted January 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2006 You will find the most trans panama canal cruises in May (going West) and Sept (going east). 14 days probably will get you from east coast to San Diego and visa versa.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2006 We have done it both ways several times. I really enjoyed the ones that we did in the spring going from the Caribbean to the Pacific. It didn't seem as hot and humid as the ones we did in the fall. captainron Posted January 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2006 Hi, We're doing the repo cruise FLL-YVR dep FLL on 3 May aboard the Coral Princess. You won't get anything larger than the Coral or the Island (92000 tonnes) going through the canal as both vessels are "Panamax" vessels, or the max dimensions that can transit through the locks. If you're looking for a megaship to transit, it ain't gonna happen. I don't even know if Carnival repos ships to the west coast or not. Anybody know for certain? Ciao for now!!! mii Posted January 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2006 I will also be on the repo that Capt. Ron is on but we get off at S.F. I do know that Celebrity has a ship that goes through the canal. I think it is the Summit, not sure if that is the one. Marilyn
