Has anyone ever cruised the Danube with Gate1 on the Monarch Duchess or Monarch Princess?  How does this river cruise compare with Viking?

Have done the Danube on the Monarch Empress. Have done the Rhine on Viking. I consider them to be pretty equal. I thought Gate1 food quality was better with more local dishes, but less of a selection. Tours were similar. Viking a little better on entertainment.

 

Given a choice I consider Gate1 to be a much better value, considering the price point of each.

We're doing the Danube on the Monarch Princess next April.  Really looking forward to it!

We've only traveled with Viking so far, but a friend is currently on the Danube with Gate 1 and is raving about the experience. Will certainly look at them (as well as others) in the future. 

 

No complaints about Viking, BTW, as they've been excellent.

Glad to hear that! We're going with Gate 1 next April.

Sailed on Gate 1 in August! We were involved in the low water situation! The trip was fantastic even with bus rides  to Bratislava and Budapest! Food was excellent, crew was superb. Provided a wonderful diner and night cruise in Budapest to compensate for our inability to sail into Budapest. These last minute events where handled within hours of the decision to remain in Vienna and executed perfectly

Looking for more reviews and helpful info  on the Monarch Princess. We are scheduled for October Danube, with a pre cruise extension in Munich for Oktoberfest.    Thanks !
