It looks like a nice location, close to the elevators and able to walk up the stairs to the Neptune Lounge. Is it next to the elevators? If so, some people do not like them since people on the elevators can see onto your balcony. I like the ones one cabin away from them, as they are close to the stairs (and elevators) but no issue of viewing.
ssimon Posted November 14, 2018 #27 Share Posted November 14, 2018 You had me scared. Had to look at deck plans. We are 3 rooms from the elevator! Looks like a perfect spot!

ssimon Posted November 14, 2018 #29 Share Posted November 14, 2018 No! Thanks for the heads up. I never would have thought of that. And you are correct I like the privacy of the balcony and would not have been real happy with that location. We spend lots of time sitting on the balcony. Arubababe52 Posted November 14, 2018 #30 Share Posted November 14, 2018 I’ve stayed in a signature suite on the Nieuw Amsterdam right next to the elevators and privacy was never an issue.
algriff Posted November 20, 2018 #31 Share Posted November 20, 2018 So does anyone actually know why certain people receive "casino offers" or "casino discounts"?? Does it matter how much you gamble in the casino or is it just a random number of people who get such offers. I have heard so many rumors as to how much money you have to gamble or how much time you must spend in the casino, that I have no idea how these offers come along. My sister who had never been on a HAL cruise before last Feb now gets casino offers via email all the time and unless they snuck down to the casino after we all retired to our rooms, then we were all in the casino together spending about the same amount of money, so none of us can understand why they keep getting these offers and no one else does. My opinion is that no one really knows! Some people get offers directly from the Casino (offers for greatly reduced cabin fares with an understanding that you will spend a considerable amount of time in the Casino) and other people get somewhat reduced casino discounts directly from HAL with no requirement for time in the casino. This discount is approximately 25 - 30 % of the cruise fare. You don't know you have this fare until you complete your booking and its not offered on all sailings. We have received this discount when booking directly with HAL as well as with a traditional TA. We have been told by the large big box store TA (based in Seattle) and the large internet TA based in Houston that they weren't able to book a cabin for us with the HAL casino discount. I'm not sure why - but I can guess. I can tell you that a "friend of a friend" has sailed Norwegian for many years and gets comped in suites all the time. But, he has to spend 6 hours or so per day in the casino. To me, that sounds almost like a job.
golfbagger Posted November 21, 2018 #33 Share Posted November 21, 2018 Sailing on Rotterdam in Feb.2019, on a casino discounted fare--maybe 15-20%? TA was able to get the assigned cabin/type we wanted. Great!!! Just hoping that Hal still has good B-Jack rules>>at least pays 3/2 for a B/Jack? Does anyone have some recent experience with their table games? golfbagger
