Gem main dining room

Hi:  We are going on the Gem next week, and being new to NCL I have a question. I was told that the Grand Pacific dining room is open for lunch on embarkation day though they try to head you to the buffet. Is the dining room open for lunch on either sea days, or port days or both. We try to avoid the buffet whenever possible. Thanks.

The main dining room is open for lunch on embarkation day. it is also open  for lunch on sea days but not on port days. To avoid buffet on port days you can go to O'sheehans.

Definitely go straight to the main dining room.  It is a lovely, peaceful way to begin your vacation.  In addition to O'Sheehans mentioned above on many sea days they barbecue by the pool.  Enjoy the Gem, she's my favorite!

As above posters noted, the Grand Pacific will be open for lunch on embarkation day. In the past, an impromptu baggage check service was setup in the Bliss  Lounge.  If your stateroom is not yet ready, check your carryon bags st the Bliss and head to the Grand Pacific for a relaxing lunch and/or a pleasant stroll around the ship.

 

That is our plan. We will also be on next Monday’s 12-day Gem Cruise to the Caribbean.

Thanks JKelly for the heads up on the bliss lounge. Maybe we will see each other in he dining room. If you are old enough and remember :Bonanza" I will be the guy who looks like Hoss Cartwright.
