kajsb Posted April 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I made tour reservations for Puerto Vallarta. I'm still trying to figure out the time difference. I will be on Carnival Pride. Does the ship use PST? I've heard both one hour and two hour time differences between PST and Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. Can anyone help me with this confusion???? ak-tired Posted April 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Hi there - on our trip last week: LA is PST Cabo and Mazatlan are MST PV is CST The ship runs on MST, and any ship provided expeditions pick up and drop off at times stated in MST. If you're booking a private expedition, you'll need to account for the hour difference. We did one - scheduled a pickup at 11am CST, so left the ship at 9am ship time (MST) to give us an hour to make it to the pickup location. Clear as mud? marklodi Posted April 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Well, let me see if I can give this a shot. This is how I understand it. The first night of the Carnival Pride cruise, they ask you to set your watches ahead one hour. This means that instead of Pacific Time, you are now on Mountain time. Puerto Vallarta is Central Time. So when you are in PV, the ship's time is actually one hour behind PV. For example, if you arrive in PV at 8am on the ship, it's really 9am in Puerto Vallarta. Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas are both Mountain Time Zone, so while in port, the ship's time and your time will match. When you leave Cabo (Friday), that night you are to turn your clocks back 1 hour. You will then be on Pacific time once again. I hope that made sense. Mark ºoº 5/9/04 Pride Cruise - 1st Cruise! Visit our Webshots Gallery

glrounds Posted April 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I've sailed the Mexican Riviera many times and the way Marklodi describes it is EXACTLY the way it happens. Gary
kajsb Posted April 5, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Mark, Jeri and Gary. Thanks for clearing it up. I think I've got it now. Now I know I better change our Canopy Tour reservation. I guess will be changing to 1:30 PV time. There is no way Barry will get up early enough to make the 10:00 tour.
