That seems odd, though admittedly we sailed in that area some time ago. So our experience may be different from what they are doing now.

Are you doing the July 2, Tromso to Longyearbyen itinerary? Or are you doing July 22, Tromso to Reykjavik?

For our Svalbard voyage (August 2011, opposite direction, Longyearbyen to Tromso), SS only included the charter flight in one direction: from Oslo to Longyearbyen. This was at the beginning of the trip. The plane returned to Oslo that afternoon, carrying the passengers who had just disembarked from the previous voyage.

But, once we disembarked in Tromso, we were on our own as SS did not have a plane flying guests to/from Tromso. So I arranged a one-way flight from Tromso to Oslo independently, in order to connect to our RT itinerary to/from Oslo. SAS sold tickets cheaply, at least back then.

Did SS arrange your air for you, and only took you to Oslo? It's a long way from there to Tromso!

Thank you for your response. Right now we are waiting to see the air arrangements proposed by Silversea. It appears that if you book with them, there is a regular SAS flight to Tromso included as part of the package. We knew it was a long trek to Tromso and did not want to get stranded in Oslo or late to Tromso and left behind!

When we booked our Silver Cloud trip to Antarctica (started in Punta Arenas and ended in Ushuaia) we didn't realise that the charter flight from Ushuaia to Santiago at the end of the cruise was included. It was a nice surprise when we checked our booking on My Silversea to see that underneath the cruise it detailed that there was a transfer from ship to airport and then a charter flight. So worth checking on the My Silversea page?

We made our own arrangements to get to Punta Arenas.
