Keeping it a cheap visit in Nassau

We’ve been to the Nassau many times in years past. We’ve stayed away a long time and now we’re going to stop there as it’s on the Glory’s itinerary.

So, help me recall. How much are water taxis? What are the public beaches you can go to? If I recall right, it was Paradise Island that was easy and cheap to get to.

We don’t feel like spending excess funs on excursions.

The last time we visited was with the Big Red Boat and they took us to an out island. The boys were 3 & 5, now they are 17 (twins) and 19. Wow, how time flies!

There is a public beach on paradise island, no cost, i think the water taxi costs about $7 per person one way.

The Public Beach on Paradise Island (Cabbage Beach) is about a 7 minute walk from the ferry dock. Just past the RIU hotel. There's a public walkway - clearly marked.

As for the Ferry, it costs $3 pp each way and runs from 9am - 6pm daily.

Ferry runs every 30 minutes.

You can also take a cab directly to the beach for about $4 pp.

There is also another public beach nearby. It is just a few blocks west of the British Colonial Hilton just outside of town. (about 10 mins walk from the ship). Lighthouse Beach has relatively calmer water than Cabbage Beach, since it's within the break waters, and is a little rocky.

This will bo our 1st time cruisin and our 1st time to Nassua. what is the best beach to go to for us since we have little kids...ages 7 and 3 1/2? Or are we better off skipping the beach and just visiting Atlantis. We're on a tight budget...any tips?

We waited and went to Atlantis after dark...

and walked right in and saw the entire Dig for free!!

You can visit the Casino, and walk around and see a very ineresting place...

You can not use the other facilities such as beaches without paying however.

We visited Nassau once in 2000 while sailing on RCL EOS (great ship). We took a van (taxi) to Atlantis, walked in, toured the aquarium (the tunnels down stairs with the huge windows looking into the tanks). We then exited through the gift shop right out to the pool area.

Don't remember anything called the DIGS. Are the DIGS something new?
