Med Cruise vs Caribbean Cruise any differences?

VAT tax if you leave from Barceloa and a few other ports

The entire feel of the crowds was different but still quite enjoyable . We had a marvelous time

 

We were with NCLfor that cruise, however.

If a cruise visits an non-EU country, then there isn't a VAT to pay.  We visited Malta on a 14 nt cruise a couple of years ago which saved a huge amount of money not having to pay the VAT on everything on board.

Malta is in the EU so you should still pay VAT. If you visit any of the following the cruise will be exempt from VAT and the duty free shop should be open., Montengro (Kotor), Turkey, Gibraltar and any of the Canaries. The last 2 are in the EU but are duty free ports.
