Longer stay in Stokmarknes?

Recommended Posts

We had a great Northern Lights trip last January on the Finnmarken - probably the best cruise we have ever done! Just wondering though why we only spent an hour in Stokmarknes - we were really enjoying the Finnmarken museum there but had to race back to the 'real' Finnmarken. It would be great to make that a longer stop on future voyages.

@aronde, thank you for this feedback and I'm so pleased you had a great time! You’ll be happy to hear that Hurtigruten will add more ships to our year-round expedition service in 2021 as MS Finnmarken, MS Midnatsol, and MS Trollfjord will come out of the Norway coastal route and instead sail on expedition itineraries on the coast. These ships are extremely well-suited for this, and these adventures will offer longer stays in the most representative Norwegian coastal towns.

This is very interesting.

Do you have any details about the itineraries yet?

(We were on Trollfjord for one of your Astronomy cruises last March, and we had one of the best trips ever.  The landscape was *amazing*.  But to go back, it would indeed be nice to see more, at greater length in some places... and to go into Trollfjord of course 🙂 )

@GeezerCouple, stay tuned! We expect to be ready to announce these itineraries early this summer. I think you’ll find these new routes quite exciting!

Wonderful.

Will past cruisers on Hurtigruten (and their travel agents) automatically be among the first to get this information by email?

(We prefer suites, and there aren't many on Hurtigruten.  We try to book early, on all cruise lines, while there is a good choice.  We loved Trollfjord's OS.  We just wish you had more forward facing suites; those are our favorite, where they exist.  We like to see "where we are going", and all the more so when there is so much gorgeous scenery!)

I just cannot tell you how pleased we were with our Trollfjord RT almost a year ago.

The *CREW* really deserves a shout-out.  Everyone was so friendly and helpful, it really added a lot.

An old college friend of DH's who totally coincidentally went on the Trollfjord a few months later also found it remarkable.
