Scenic Fjords and North Cape June 2019

We would welcome advice about likely weather conditions and what to wear when venturing outside either on excursions or just sightseeing from the ship.

We plan to take a couple of Zodiac trips  although no kayaks!

Although the cruise is in June much of the time will be spent above the Arctic Circle and we are not sure whether a warm jacket, hat and gloves will be enough or whether we should plan to dress as per the Antarctic with multiple layers, waterproofs etc.

Also recommendations of "must do" excursions would be appreciated.

We did it July last year and had lovely weather. Look for yourself.

However, it was a fluke. The locals will tell you that. It can be grim, even in June and July.

We took skiing jackets for safety and left them in the cases all the time.

The secret is layers - and at least something thin and waterproof to put on the top.

We did Alaska two years ago. Again we were really lucky with the weather.

But again, the regulars said how often it is nothing but cloud and rain.

Any help? I suppose not but let's see what the others say.

Hi wjf, we did the Legend cruise up to the North Cape in June 2014 and like Tony we had wonderful weather. The only time we wore our jackets was in Svalbard, Spitsbergen and Longyearbyen, otherwise it was sunny and warm for the 21 days with almost 22 hours of daylight.

Trollfjord with it’s waterfalls, Geirangerfjord with amazing scenery and the Flam railway ride added greatly to the experience.

We have done lots of cruising with Seabourn and this one is still our favourite!

Enjoy!

We have done this cruise twice and the weather was mild both times. A light jacket in case of rain and as suggested layering is all we needed.  At the North cape we were in short sleeve shirts in the morning but needed a wind breaker in the afternoon.

A great cruise, one of our favorites.

On the other hand I’ve been to northern Norway, Iceland and spitsbergen in various  summer months and in different years, over the last twenty years.  It’s been 5c in Reykjavik in July with sleet and snowy in Spitsbergen in June.  It’s also been very rainy in northern Norway for days on end.  We’ve also had pleasant weather.   In summary, you just don’t know.  Layers layers layers.
