Rijeka. Island of kik

Recommended Posts

We visited Rijeka and just wandered off on our own into the town....We didn't find it a particularly attractive place to visit, no real problems, but we just thought it was a little scruffy, and not especially nice for a tourist to visit..Therefore if I we're you, I'd certainly look to do some kind of a trip, and perhaps a visit to the island of Kik would be preferable to a walk down Rijeka high street.....

We bought a day ticket for the public bus and went up to a village above Rijeka (Kastav?) for views and a short look around, then came back down into town. We used the ticket again to go up to Trsat Castle and the immediate area around it, and once back down we strolled around town. Do not even think about walking up to the castle!

The zoned ticket would have taken us further along the coast. Check websites.

The visitrijeka website is very helpful and has good info and maps to look at. Start there, also Tripadvisor.

We enjoyed our day there.
