We usually travel in October as we prefer the cooler temperatures in the fall. Weather patterns are unpredictable but you can check-out the monthly averages online. Be aware that in Venice, acqua alta (high water) often occurs in the fall.

Use the historical data on wunderground or a similar site.  Just plug in your dates then look at several yrs of data. Takes about 3 minutes to look at 10 yrs .

We were in Venice in October. It was not really cold, but rainy. Take your umbrellas.

Unusually warm sunny glorious Oct 21-24, 2018! but day after we left historic flooding began as you can see photos

online from aqua Alta. So glad we missed the waist high water in San Marco. I’d go toward first half of Oct just in case.
