Glory 3/27 Western Caribbean Review

Recommended Posts

We (my husband, sister, brother-in-law and I) sailed on the Glory last week. Here are the highlights. Contact me if you want more details:

Embarkation - There was a long wait to drop off luggage about 12:30 because of traffic backed up getting into the parking lot. The traffic had cleared by 1:30 when we returned, but check-in lines were still long.

Cabin - We had two outside, partially obstructed handicap cabins. The cabins were a well appointed, but did not have sufficient room for a wheelchair to turn around without removing furniture. People on the deck outside our windows limited our privacy. Our cabin, 9202, did not have sufficient storage (an 18" closet, 3 drawers and 4 shelves, one of which held the extra blanket and spreads).

Ship - Generally attractive and well laid out. The primary downsides were the amount of smoke in the casino and Internet Cafe and the lobby outside the Platinum Dining Room. The lobby was too small for the number of people waiting for the doors to open for dinner. If you were on time, you felt like you were in a cattle car!

Service - Good. Our waiter Liviu was pleasant and attentive even though the rest of his tables were on the other side of the diningroom. And our cabin steward was very helpful.

Food - A mixed bag from very good to awful. Our biggest complaint was that main courses arrived barely warm even when brought straight from the kitchen. High points - the chocolate and Grand Marnier soufles. The beef dishes were generally good and hamburgers and pizza on the Lido deck were also better than most ships. Low point - the lobster. Four of the six of us at our table ordered it. We all rejected it, asking for something else.

Shows - The two Las Vegas reviews were the best we have seen on any ship. We could not get into the other shows (first night, Juggler, Talent Show and Illusionist) because there was not enough space for wheelchairs on the nights that there was only one show.

Other activities - Similar to other Carnival ships. One difference was that Carnival is now running the art auctions instead of Park West.

Itinerary We enjoyed it. Our only complaint was that we would have like to stay longer in each port. We just walked around in Key West, went to Altun Ha in Belize, shopped in Cozumel and went to Dzibilchaltun in Progresso.

Weather - Fantastic. The sea was a little rough the first and the last nights, but except for rain for a few hours the morning we were in Belize, the rest of the days were nice and in the mid 80s.

Disembarkation - Fairly smooth. However in spite of waiting until they called our section, there was a long line to go through Immagration. There was also a 20 minute wait to get our luggage even though they said they would not call us until all the luggage in our section was on the carousel.

Loved your review...

Did anyone forget the all day long

annoucements for Bingo?

Yes folks, Come on down,

just $10 each, and you can WIN $500!

Lets see with 500 to 1,000 people playing...

that means the house collects 5 to 10

THOUSAND Dollars... and the "Winner"

gets 1% to 05%- Not Bad Odds!!!

You have to be a real dumbo to play

bingo- if "TWO" people- Win- they split

the $500- so that make the odds

025% to 050% What a deal! ($250 Each.)

I suggest going to the roulette wheel

and saying "hit Me!" or bye bye...

At Least Lightning may strike...

and you could win... Bingo- Wow-

What an orchestrated RIP-OFF...

And the constant bantering

all day and all night about "Winning"

$500 when they are collecting

$5,000 to $10,000 a pop is

disturbing to a rational person. icon_rolleyes.gif

When on Vacation, Hearing "A Carnival

Cruise Director" Hawking dumb guests

to the "flock" is more than annoying...

Come On Folks--- YOU Can Win!!!

Oy Vay!

Carnival Made $1,000,000,000

Tax free last Year...

You think could let their

guests win back just a little,

With about 10 to twenty winners

per game, and make people happy,

not just rip them off.

Have "A Lotta Fun!

See Ya! icon_rolleyes.gif

I would have to be about equally dumb to think I have a good chance of winning at bingo as I would have to be to believe this "Carnival made $1 Billion dollars tax free last year" stuff that has been peddled above and elsewhere on this board recently.

Oy, indeed.

Thanks for your review. Doesn't the casino have proper ventilation or is it that so many people are smoking it really wouldn't make a difference anyway?
