PR hotel suggestion

I am looking for a moderately priced, nice hotel in Puerto Rico for the night before or after my upcoming cruise. Any suggestions? Something not too far from the airport or docks. Thanks.

We have used Priceline and have gotten nice hotels at reasonable prices. Just lock in the area you want.

We have stayed many times at a B & B called La Playa, it's clean, and good for one night. Across the street from the beach. We also stayed at a B & B called Tres Palms. Both were not fancy but the people were nice and we needed a place to sleep. At La Playa we stayed 2 days before a cruise and they helped us to tours.

Hope this helps (the rate is usually around $100 and they have breakfast, Tres Palms had a nicer breakfast.)

I agree with Texed (Hey Ed, how ya doin'?). Priceline will allow you to obtain a good price for a nice hotel. The first time I stayed in PR, I stayed at the Wyndham Condodo Plaza, which was beach front and very nice. Great pool area and swimming lagoon. But I paid full price cuz I did not know how to use Priceline. I think I paid around 250 bucks plus the huge PR hotel room tax. Since then I have gotten very nice hotels for between 65 and 75 dollars on Priceline. The Condodo area is a very nice strip of upscale hotels that are right on the bus line and for 75 cents you can get any where in San Juan. Plus, there is night life galore. But, if you wish for a more historical and old world experience, pick the Old San Juan area. Just make sure that you pick a star level that you can live with. We had some friends who thought they were getting a really great deal on a San Fransisco hotel that was listed as a 1 star. They bid 20 bucks and got it...Need I say more? It was a dive with no air-conditioning and bugs. YUCK!! We most recently stayed at the Radisson Ambassador...huge casino, nice rooms, right on the bus line and Ashford Ave. right in front of the place. (Lotsa shopping and food). Good luck and enjoy!

'cept we haven't had a winter to speak of. Now I know you southeners think that is okay but I really like the snow and right now it is 35 and not even a dusting of snow on the ground. Our ski hills, snowmobile and body shop business' are hurting. I just hope Mother Nature holds off on the "big one" till my plane leaves for Miami in 2 weeks!

Last summer we booked the Holiday Inn for Insurance (we were able to cancel reservatios up to 48 hours). We kept trying priceline and 2 weeks before sailing we got 3 rooms at the Carrib Hilton for $85 each. There was no extra charge for the teens. This is a lovely resort with pools and the beach front we would use it again if leaving from San Juan. We spent 3 night there before our cruise. Food is pricey, but we used local places that were recomemded on CC.

The trick seems to be willing to try last minute.

I tried to the Caribe Hilton with priceline and wasn't able to get it, but we were able to get the Normandie which is a really nice hotel. When do you need your room because I have one for the night of the 24th for $115, if you're interested.

  • 4 weeks later...

I just got the Caribe Hilton on Priceline last night for our 2 night precruise stay for 11/23/06 - 11/25/06. I got it for $65/night on the first try! I would have rather stayed at the intercontinental but for that price I'm not complaining!
