triple7tahoe Posted February 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2019 This is a hot subject with me. We are going on the Majestic out of Sydney in a couple of weeks for almost 5 weeks of cruising. Last time we did this, all cruising between OZ and NZ was in AUD and all payouts were in AUD. Once the ship left Sydney for trip to the Orient, it changed to US$. This cruise, I am told will remain in AUD until we reach Hong Kong (and ship empties). I have over $1000 US in casino credits which in the past, was converted to AUD at a rate of $1US= $1.25 AUD. I am being told that the exchange will now be at one to one just as all other OBC (FCC, military, loyalty, CCL stock, etc.) It just seems to me that I am losing quite a bit in the exchange since the prices aboard are in AUD and have been raised to make up for the difference. I just ordered AUD at my local bank at a rate of $1US = $AUD 1.35.. Certainly not enough to make me want to cancel the cruise but I do ask for consistency. I am going to buy some FCCs using AUD and see if they translate into US$ on not Australian cruises
