Anytime Dining

We just got off the Emerald to Hawaii.  We did Anytime, always for a table for two.  We never had to wait more than 5 minutes.  Ate between 6:15-7:15.  There were no pagers which we used on previous cruises, but they used the dining rooms very efficiently.  They opened the DaVinci to Anytime from Traditional at about 7:00 -7:15.  Also if there were people in line for Anytime before that time and there were seats available in the Traditional dining room, they escorted us upstairs to that dining room.  I think there was a bit of a line at 5:30 when the dining room first opened, but we waited and avoided that rush.

Will be on the Crown in March and have never done anytime on Princess.  How does it work?

When does it start?

Can you reserve a table for same time every night?

Sounds like one dining room open early and then another after early traditional dining is done.

Any suggestions .. we like to eat early between 5:30 and 6.

We were on the Crown last summer and toward the end of the cruise we decided to try The Salty Dog Gastropub. We wished we found it sooner as it was FABULOUS and we wanted to go back and try other menu items.  It's a specialty restaurant but it cost $12 pp vs. $29 for the other offerings. You HAVE to try the "Ernesto"...it was magnificent! Also, highly recommend the grilled asparagus, the calamari and the strawberries and cream dessert. We're going to Alaska on the Island Princess and so disappointed there is no Salty Dog.

Yeah I wish they wouldn’t take bookings seems to defeat the whole idea, but I guess some don’t want to eat as early as 1st sitting or as late as 2nd but want the same time each night.

That would be our group of 8.  We prefer 6:15-6:30 and on our recent Celebrity cruise booked the same table for the week .  We had a fantastic waiter/asst waiter!   5:30 was too early and 8:30 was too late.  So we picked the time that worked for us and had the same wonderful wait staff all week.

We plan on doing that again on our next cruise - which may be the Sky Princess.
