Vancouver Airport Hampton Inn, who's been there?

We stayed there a few years ago. It's actually in Richmond.  Free shuttle to/from the airport.  Typical Hampton Inn with free breakfast.  Get a upper room on the backside and you can see the planes on final approach to YVR.  It's kinda in a industrial area, nothing to eat near by except a fast food joint across the street.  There where some empty lots when we where there, but may have been built up since.

About two blocks away there's the River Rock (Indian) Casino and Sky Train Station.  Across from the casino there's one of Richmond Asian Night Markets, we went there and had street food as our dinner.

With the Sky Train you can take it towards Richmond-Brighouse and there's a shopping mall along the way with lots of restaurants, mostly Asian.   Or go the other way to Waterfront Station(?) and a short walk from there to the cruise terminal, Canada Place.

The front desk is helpful and they have tourist map and will highlight the places you want to go.

The only thing I'll add to Philobs thorough reply is that you do have other dining options close enough to walk to, even though the area immediately around it is indeed rather industrial. Several small restos are actually hidden away around it within a couple of blocks - and if you can handle a kilometre/1100 yard walk (10mins for average person) you open up at least a dozen more options, including a couple of Western choices. And if you're here in mid-May or later, the Night Market is very close by - follow the crowds! This is the place to go if you want some entertainment, lots of nibbly foodstuffs, and great people-watching.

The mall mentioned is probably both the Yaohan & Aberdeen Centres, which are right next to each other and just across the street from Aberdeen SkyTrain station - but unless the train is very quick in arriving walking is actually faster (and at night, with 20min frequency on that line, walking home definitely averages faster). Some VERY nice restos are close to the second SkyTrain southbound stop, Lansdowne - including Sun Sui Wah's Richmond branch in case there are enough of you to do a King Crab Feast justice.
