sjf Posted March 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2019 If anybody out there has previously done this Royal Caribbean shore excursion at the end of their cruise, we'd love to know what your thoughts were, We'd particularly like to know if any stops are made. The website only refers to 'driving past' many of the main sights, and we'd rather not be confined for 4 hours shortly before a long flight back to UK. Many thanks. 138east Posted March 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2019 I haven’t done this tour. However folks have posted about it. I seem to remember that folks said it was basically driving around with one longer stop to get off the bus near the 911 Memorial. Finding places for tour buses to stop for any length of time in Manhattan is practically impossible. That’s why the HoHo buses are so popular. sjf Posted March 3, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted March 3, 2019 Thanks, 138east. As it's the end of our cruise, we can't be hopping on and off buses with our luggage. Its the luggage that is the problem.
138east Posted March 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2019 And that’s why RCL offers this tour. Everyone disembarking has luggage they can’t tote around while sightseeing. There are a number of places to store luggage in Manhattan. Schwartz Travel is very popular.

sddsddean Posted March 4, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 4, 2019 Just to confirm Carol's description...you get on a coach at the cruise terminal about 9-9:30. (Luggage stowed in the coach hold). Through the Holland tunnel and 'drive by' various sights of NYC. There is one stop near the 9/11 memorial. Not enough time to go in the museum, but enough to look round the pools etc and take some photos. Stop is 45-60 mins. Back on the coach for more touring then start dropping people at the 3 terminals at EWR about 2:15pm. Its OK...not the best tour in the world, but it uses up time if you have a lateish flight and saves worrying about your luggage. Simon

Ideally, we'd have liked a couple more stops. The 9/11 Memorial is one of the few places we visited on our previous (and only) trip to New York. Still can't make up my mind what we should do!
