Duty Free Alcohol?

We will be in Nassau in a few weeks and decided on taking the rum tour with Islandz Tours. If we decide to buy some rum, does anyone know how much we can bring back to the port in NY, duty free? If we want more than the limit, how much is the tax? I always though the limit was a US value of $800ish. But I’m reading that the dollar amount doesnt matter and only allowed just one liter per person? Is that right?

From the website. U.S. citizens out of the country for 48 hours are allowed up to $800 worth of duty-free merchandise. Less than 48 hours, the duty-free exemption is $200. Limitations include 32 ounces of tobacco for those over 21 and no more than two liters of alcohol.

depending on the price, you should be paying about $10 per ltr for additional bottles.

John Waitling is now available online and in the states.
