canadianquartet Posted April 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2004 It looks to me like the Tampa port and airport are not that far apart (compared to other ports we've sailed from) and I'm wondering what people would suggest would be a reasonable flight time after a cruise on the Miracle out of Tampa. We don't have a lot of choices on the flights and have a long trip home so don't want to make it later than necessary. There is one flight at 12:15. Is that possible. I would appreciate any thoughts from those who have cruised from Tampa or live in the area. Thanks. We need a winter break! Bon Voyage on the PRIDE in... katie286 Posted April 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2004 We've got a 12:30 back to NY from Tampa and I have been told by many people that if we tell the Pursers desk that we have an early flight home, they will get us off fairly early. People seem to think 12:30 is doable. I am keeping my fingers crossed! SENSATION! FIRST CRUISE! 7/10/
Cruising89143 Posted April 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2004 You should be ok with your flight times. The only thing that could happen and it does from time to time is an issue with fog which will close down Tampa Bay. This will result in your ship coming in late. Cruising89143 Posted April 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I know that January through March can be foggy. Cotton Posted April 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2004 The only advice I can offer is this quote from Carnival's latest brochure: "Outbound flights should be scheduled NO earlier than 2pm." .... (This is recommended just in case there should be any unforeseen delays in debarkation.) purplbuttaflie Posted April 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2004 i just want to mention my experience at the tampa port. i went on the inspiration in january, and had booked a 12:25pm flight home, so i was able to get off the boat in the first group because of the early flight. unfortunately, the first group got off the boat at almost noon due to docking late and problems with the non-americans going through customs. i know this doesn't always happen, but i know i will from now on book a flight no earlier than 1:30-2:00. jillian. Cruising89143 Posted April 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2004 One other idea may be to stay overnight at one of the airport hotels and fly out first thing the next morning. That would make the trip home a little more relaxed. imlulu Posted April 10, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Gosh I booked a 5:30 for my upcoming cruise. I thought that time was horrible as is very late. I was hoping for a flight around 12:30. On our Sensation cruise it took forever to get cleared by customs. Yes the airport is close but it is hectic locating luggage. However we didn't fly out until the following day. Airport is easy to navigate but security was tight in our experience. Have a great trip! No longer cruiseless...donations still accepted! ;-) Last cruise Sensation 2/17/
