Sheeba67 Posted April 26, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2019 Does anyone out there have a good chill walking itinerary for Ensenada? We have two girls 18 & 20 and want a great taco stop and probably the required stop at Papas & Beer or Hussongs.

Both can be found very close to each other, and a nice chill walk from the ship, or back to the ship. P & B is at the corner of Av Lopez Mateos and Av Ruiz. On the other side of Av Ruiz, almost directly across from Hussongs, is a great place to get tacos. La Terraza I think it’s called. To walk there from the ship, just head out of the dock area. When you get to the first bridge, turn left and head towards the fountains. They are where Alvarado dead ends. Take Alvarado away from the water and you will cross Blvd Lazaro Cardenas and then turn left on Av Lopez Mateos. Go up about 6 blocks and you will get to P & B. On the way back, if you like fresh seafood, be sure to stop at either El Guerno (Alvarado and Lazaro Cardenas) or La Guerrerense (Alvarado and Lopez Mateos). Both are street carts serving really great seafood tostados. I always stop at El Guerno for a shrimp cocktail. The trip from ship to P & B is just about a mile. CanWeGoYet? Posted April 26, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2019 Can't help on the walking tour, but be sure to stop by Le Guerrerense for tostadas. It is a street food cart, although they have a sit down restaurant as well now I hear. It has the BEST fresh seafood, it's busy and delicious. Some ideas on what to order, https://www.forbes.com/sites/geoffreymorrison/2018/03/16/la-guerrerense-the-best-food-in-ensenada/#afd33f65c115 Here is a site that has walking tour / Ensenada info as well as a map. http://www.cruiseportinsider.com/ensenadaonyourown.html You can see from this map of La Guerrerense it should be close to where your ship is docking. https://www.google.com/maps/place/La+Guerrerense/@31.8614761,-116.6231467,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xb733b3dee44c57c7!8m2!3d31.8614761!4d-116.6231467
Sheeba67 Posted April 27, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted April 27, 2019 perfect, just what we needed. We will definitely get tacos and some mariscos, and probably hit Pappas and Beer (I was there 33 years ago). Bet things have changed.
KeepCalmBearOn Posted April 27, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2019 Birrieria La Guadalajara is in the shopping district (Macheros 154, Zona Centro), Asadero La Chispa (Av Adolfo López Mateos 2030) is closer to the ship, but the area is more local businesses, not shops and Tacos Marco Antonio (Av Rayon 351, Obrera) could be the best of all. As to things changing, Ensenada's population in 1990 was about 170,000; today it is approaching 600,000.

Was there twice in December and again in January. We also like Potrero Viejo. On Segundo between Riveroll and Alvarado.
hoblitt Posted May 8, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 8, 2019 Do. Not. Miss. La Guerrerense. I cannot emphasize this enough. The cart is fine, but try to hit the sit-down place and get their fish/shrimp tacos. Unreal how delicious they are.
