spikera Posted April 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We used priceline and got a hotel for $78.00 only five minutes from the pier. Just called there last nite to confirm double beds, no smoking room. I asked about shuttle service to the pier and their reply was if the shuttles weren't busy we could use them. Can't remember if it was Hyatt or what it was. It was the highest rated hotel though. Good luck. robcool Posted April 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Cheryl, can you check and post the name of the hotel, please? Was the $78.00 a good deal? I have been trying on Priceline for more like $50 for a 3*, but no luck. Thank you! spikera Posted April 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Actually I knew if I dug hard enough in my desk here at would find it. It is the Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel.. they accepted my bid of $70.00 plus then they add on taxes & service fees. I think I started at $45.00 and they said NO. Maybe start at $60 and see what they offer you. Sometimes they e mail you back and ask you to go $15.00 higher... they did this to me and I offer $5.00 more and they gave it to me. Good luck! kellyccz Posted April 14, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2004 If you go to Bidding For Travel.com, you can see a complete list of hotels that turn up on priceline for each area in each city in any state - and they list them by star level, so you will know which hotels Priceline will choose from. Guest Posted April 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 15, 2004 We stayed at the Days Inn Rocky Point and absolutely loved it! They picked us up from the airport and drove us to the pier, free of charge. The hotel grounds were maintained beautifully, as well as the pool area and rooms. The staff was very helpful and their restaurant/bar, The Green Iguana, had wonderfully delicious food....we ate ALL our meals there. The burgers were the best any of us had EVER eaten. We did a pre- and post cruise stay there and would return in a heart-beat! seattle Posted April 16, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 16, 2004 I paid $75 for a 4* in Tampa. The Grand Hyatt, I am just hoping they offer a shuttle to the pier. They have one from the airport and I emailed to find out if they offer it to the pier as well.
thebird Posted April 16, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Seattle, Please let me know what you find out about that. I am staying there, too, on 5/14/04. I think I'll call them direct to ask that very thing. (it doesn't affect me this time, because we're driving down from Savannah, but I talk to them frequently anyway, so I could find out for you - if they don't e-mail you back shortly.) When are you staying there? I hear it's quite lovely - a VERY nice place with 2 great restaurants, Armani's and Oystercatchers. seattle Posted April 19, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 19, 2004 thebird, I am staying on the 15th. If you do call them, please post on here if they do offer a shuttle to the pier. I am planning on taking a taxi but a shuttle would be nice to save some $$$ for spending during the cruise. Inspiration 5/16/2004
spikera Posted April 19, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Iasked about the shuttle to the pier and the response was if they had a shuttle available they would drop us off. They do have a pick up service from the airport. Once you get to the airport use their courtesy phone and they will come and pick you up. till we cruise on our "girlfriends" cruise
thebird Posted April 20, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Seattle, I got the same response. Also, I was told by Hyatt - the courtesy phone...at the airport, get your luggage BEFORE you call for the shuttle, because the hotel is only 5 minutes away. My sister is flying in from DFW the night we're staying, so I had to find that out for her. She's never been to Tampa and didn't know her way around. DonnaD Posted April 20, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 20, 2004 If you bid priceline can you get two double beds? Traveling with our children and don't want them to have to sleep on the floor. Thanks Donna
jennraycruise Posted April 20, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Hey Seatlle... I am also on the Inspiration on 5/16. We are staying at the Hilton at the airport and I read some where that they only charge like 5 bucks to the air port. Also Tampa Bay shuttle will take 2 both ways to and from the port for like 32 dollars total. We arrive in Tampa on the 14th and are spending a couple extra days laying on the beach:>) Jennifer Inspiration 5/16/... imlulu Posted April 20, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 20, 2004 If you go from the airport to the port by taxi, it costs about $20 with tip for 4. I know Days Inn Rocky Point used to do free airport shuttle as well as port shuttle. No longer cruiseless...donations still accepted!
