Last year we were on the Viking River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam.  On the next to last day we stopped at Kinderdijk for an afternoon excursion.  We then went to Rotterdam and traveled on Amsterdam in the late evening.  We docked in Amsterdam after midnight.  We had plane reservations home in the early afternoon of the last day, so we went to airport after breakfast.

On your Amsterdam to Budapest  Viking river cruise many years ago,  the day of plane arrival there was a late afternoon walk organized to stretch one’s legs after long flight.  I do not think it went far, and we did not join as we had just visited Amsterdam on a few days pre-stay  on a Norway cruise 2 months previous,   The next day we sailed to Kinderdijk.

So from my experience, you will not really have much time to see or do anything in Amsterdam itself on this particular itinerary.   Perhaps plan on coming in a few days earlier?
