Unlimited dining is it worth it?

Recommended Posts

The issue it causes the restaurant if "course hop",  is that they look at the reservations to figure out how much food to prep.  Based on analytics, the have idea of how many of each item to prep.  So if you have restaurant reservation, they figure you will be having all courses their prep accordingly.  Obviously some items can be carried over service to service but others can't leading to wastage and increase in food costs.  Restaurants both on land and sea have target numbers for good costs, employee costs, etc.  If they are not met then their may be consequences.

Also restaurants figure a guest will be at a table for X amount of time and so offer a certain amount of reservations each night.  While they might be able to take a walkup if you leave after just one course, there may not be enough time to serve the walk-ups before the need the table for the another reservation.

While not a big thing in the grand scheme of things, there are affect to the restaurant.  As a fellow passenger, I won't consider you a bad person if you do this esp. if Royal allows you to make multiple reservations at multiple restaurants for the same night.  Just be forwarned that if enough people start doing this they may take that ability away.  Disney opened a restaurant, that a show or some type of character meet and greet.  The menu was al acarte.  People started to show up and just order an appetizer or dessert.  Disney fairly quickly changed over to a prix fix menu for that restaurant.
