ouiswim Posted July 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2019 We're arriving the day before our cruise in September and can't figure out a reasonably priced hotel. Saw some unusual items such as "shared bathroom." Lol. Also security deposits of $200? Would love to have a recommendation from someone who has stayed there before or after a cruise. Thanks! Urban trekker Posted July 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2019 Reasonable priced hotel in Vancouver is an oxymoron - September is still the cruise reason and very little inexpensive hotel rooms will be available. Shared bathroom is an other term for meaning it's in the hallway and others will also be able to use it. Have you looked at staying at the YWCA on Beatty street - not your normal Y type of accommodation - full service rooms and reasonable pricing. https://ywcavan.org/hotel - they are adding a second tower - that is how much demand they have. Hope this helps Dennis
ouiswim Posted July 6, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted July 6, 2019 Thanks for the suggestion. Your're correct about the cost of hotel rooms, but my husband decided it was most important that we get a hotel close to the pier. We have booked Pinnacle Harbourfront. It seemed like the hotels were filling up fast and we didn't want to take a chance. Thanks again!
Urban trekker Posted July 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2019 September is a very busy cruise month as it is when the ships start there transitioning from Alaska to points south and east so many of them who don't home port in Vancouver stop there to meet requirements of US Law. There are a number of major events on The RBC Grand Fondo bike race to Whistler - a Canada/USA rugby match both on the same weekend plus the usual collection of conventions etc. Pinnacle Harbourside is an good choice and you can walk to the port if you so wish. Hope this helps some more and have a great cruise. Dennis
