Cruise4Jesus Posted July 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2019 Wanted to see if anyone who has used Uber or Lyft after cruise at the Port of Miami has been charged surge pricing? Thanks in advance for any information.
JohninDC Posted July 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2019 Usually no. If you are not tight on time you can usually wait 10-15 minutes for the surge to end.

travelingduo Posted July 14, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2019 Is there a designated area to meet Uber/Lyft drivers for transfers to the airport?
cruizin4sho Posted July 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2019 I'm cruising out of Miami in December and would like to know the answer to this question as well.
packedandready Posted July 31, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2019 When we first requested Uber the price that showed was about $30 LOWER than what was charged to our cc. We were fairly new to the Uber world and understood about price surge but this didn’t make sense. I called Uber and they adjusted the charge. We just did this July 20 and there is a designated ride share spot. It was very expensive to go to Fort Lauderdale, we paid $102 for an Uber XL. Jh19 Posted August 4, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2019 Has anyone used Uber or Lyft for four adults and 8 suitcases from Port of Miami to the luggage lounge? We don’t have to be at the airport until 1:30 and are trying to decide what to do after we disembark. Saturday disembark day. Would a private car service be a better option due to the amount of luggage we’ll have? Thanks for your help!
ladysail2 Posted August 6, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 6, 2019 What is 'surge' pricing. I've never heard of that? Thanks.

During high demand periods the normal prices may be multiplied to 2 or 3 times the normal rate. Applies only for a limited geographic area, and the higher rates tend to attract LOTS of drivers. In the DC area I have seen surge prices of 5 times the normal rate during snow storms or after a big concert - I find it cheaper to relax, grab a drink, wait 15-30 minutes, and let prices return to normal. They’re just doing what hotels, cruises, party places, etc do during holiday or sports events. Good idea just to chill out until the price comes down. Thanks for the explanation!
