Equinox docking query

Hi,

We will be hiring a car for a few days before our southern Caribbean cruise on Equinox in October.

Please could someone advise me as to what terminal the ship actually docks and which would be the closest rental company to the terminal.

TIA

I live locally...

Unless there is more than one Celebrity ship docked at Fort Lauderdale/Port Everglades on the day you embark , it is likely that Equinox will be at Terminal 25...  If there is more than one Celebrity ship at the port that day, Equinox may be at a different but nearby terminal [with 26 or 29 the most likely possibilities]...  Terminal assignments are very clearly posted at the port security entrances but are also available online at the Port Everglades website--with accuracy; before that terminal assignments are best estimates/can and do change--a week before you sail...

All of the major car rental agencies have a significant presence at Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale International Airport which is located just a very few miles/minutes from the port...  That said, you will need to take a taxi between the airport car rental facility [one large parking deck serves all of the major companies] and your cruise terminal...

Security at Port Everglades is very strict as it serves as the depot for distribution of petroleum/fuel products from Key West to the Orlando area...  Be prepared to show your Xpress Pass or cruise reservation--perhaps along with your Passport--as your driver passes through one of the security kiosks to gain entry into the port area

Thank you for your response.

I know you said that security is tight but is there a car rental drop off at the port and if so what company would be closest to Terminal 25?  We are renting the car for convenience, so don't really want to be messing around dropping cars off at airport to go back to the port.

TIA

Meg:-)

Several rental companies have a collect and drop off just outside the terminal. (Ella Road?). We have used Alamo here. They have a free shuttle to and from your ship. Very easy to do, frequent shuttle service.

Just checked, it is Eller Drive. Search Port Everglades car hire.

Alternatively there is a Dollar drop off quite close to many of the hotels. We often choose to get rid of the hire car the afternoon before we cruise and then just grab a taxi in the morning. What the taxi costs you can be offset by the cost of the extra overnight parking. Again if you search you will find the location and be able to judge distance to your hotel.
