family of 4 pre cruise for 2 nights in december (it's never too early!!!). which is better.....cocoa beach hilton or doubletree? or......any other suggestions? would like on the beach......balcony with oceanview........and a pool. thanks

We spent a week in Cocoa Beach before our Disney Cruise a few Years back. We are a Family of 4 and we stayed at the Days inn. I know it doesnt sound great but heres what we got....

We asked for a handicap room which has a front and back entrance

a small patio, not fenced in but still nice

a FULL kitchen range, full size fridge, and microwave.

large room

1 block walking distance to the pier and the beach.

We booked early and paid less then $250 for the entire week.

Now we didnt have the balcony or the great ocean view, But it was a fantastic stay.

Don't know the doubletree. But the Hilton was undergoing major renovations due to hurricanes last year. We stayed there in June 2005. Nice but, only an outdoor pool I believe.

I have friends traveling to CB later this year, and sent it to her:

Our destination today is the Cocoa Beach Hilton, about 45-50 minutes from the airport and about 10 minutes to the pier. We booked this hotel using Hotwire for $84 after taxes and fees. The Hilton is a gorgeous property that is almost completely renovated after devastating hurricane Francis tore the place up in 2004. The inside was done for the most part. Just some paving outside left from what I saw. The hotel is right on the ocean but because the weather was so cold, we didn’t walk the beach. We ate our dinner in the hotel and this turned out to be a great choice. In the main restaurant, ask for the sandwich menu in addition to the regular menu that they give you. There are some really good choices and at very reasonable prices compared with some other upper class hotels we’ve visited over the years in Florida. After dinner, some of our group retire to our rooms and some hung out in the bar for some drinks and to watch the football playoffs.

BTW, we stayed at the Doubletree a few years ago on a land vacation and loved it, but that was back in 2003.

We stayed at the Cocoa Beach Hilton in October 2005 and absoutely loved it. It has had major renovations since the hurricane. We booked on hotwire for the price of $84. a night as well. It had a resturant that we ate at and we went to the beach. It was great for our pre-cruise night.
