Midges in September in the west of Scotland

We will be cruising the Inner Hebridean Island the last week of September, and wondering if midges might be a challenge. Anyone with experience out there who might enlighten us? And  if they will be present, what can we do to mitigate their attacks? Thanks.

We did run into them at one stop.  The crew made midge repellant available at reception and it wasn’t an issue.

Good to know. Guess we can leave the repellent at home and count on the crew to spray us! Thanks.

Yes, and that was the only time on five cruises I have ever run into midges.

We did a footloose cruise last Sept and were only troubled briefly at one destination. Having said that, most of the walking was in open and high ground. Midge repellent was available alongside snacks & drinks as you left HP.
