azrenne Posted April 28, 2004 #26 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Ronath, thankyou for the pictures and the links to the cajun resturants. Was that a picture of your balcony cabin? Did you bring a bungie cord to keep the door open? I have read that the door stopers that your room steward uses would work in the balcony door. Is this true? Do you have a balcony cabin on the Sun? If you like pizza you will love the pizza place on the Sun Princess. How does the Carnival Conquest rate against Princess and Royal and the others? Ronath Posted April 28, 2004 #27 Share Posted April 28, 2004 azrenne, yes those were pictures of our balconies. On Carnival we've never really kept the balcony doors open long because if I remember right, the air conditioning cuts off. (I think I've seen posts where people place magnets on the door to fool the a/c.) We haven't tried the bungee cords. On Royal Caribbean the door slides open (and the a/c stays on) so we've left the balcony door open all night and slept to the sounds of the waves. And yes, we do have a balcony on the Sun Princess too, on Baja deck I believe. On the Conquest we're on the Lido deck just steps away from the pool and the buffets. Hard to rate the Conquest with all the others because we've liked all the ships we've sailed. We always did like Princess for their service but haven't been on them for a few years. Royal Caribbean and Carnival and pretty close together and we really enjoy them both. The Conquest is a large ship and has plenty to do. Just bring a jacket as the ship has been pretty cool. We are leaving on the Conquest in June and we have a balcony towards the back of the ship, room 6442 with extra big balcony. We have never had a room towards the aft, just wondering if you had more motion and vibration back there? Arzenne, I noticed from your list of ships that you have sailed on Carnival and Princess. We are thinking of sailing on Carnival next year. HOwever, we are not certain we would enjoy it as we have heard it attracts a louder type of crowd. PJCruisers Posted April 28, 2004 #29 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Ronath, You are not sailing on 11-22-04 are you? For we are sailing the Sun again. Perhaps, the Conquest next Feb. azrenne Posted April 28, 2004 #30 Share Posted April 28, 2004 pjcruisers, I will sail Carnival in June so after I get back I can give you some feedback. Im a little worried about going on Carnival. We have such great service on Princess and I understand that carnival draws a diffent crowd. At least we picked a ship that is only a year old. Ronath Posted April 28, 2004 #31 Share Posted April 28, 2004 PJcruisers, we are going on the 11/2 sailing of the Sun. azrenne, you should like the Conquest as long as you don't go in expecting too much. The service may not be as good as Princess but it is good nevertheless. And a cruise is a cruise. Like they say, a bad day on a cruise is better than a good day at work. PJCruisers Posted April 29, 2004 #32 Share Posted April 29, 2004 azrenne, Thanks for the info. Please make note of my e mail address: jwyatt6427@aol.com or jwyatt@csu.org I have been reading member ratings of Conquest and I must confess they run the gamut. I usually disregard the ones that are too extreme; "worst cruise ever", "horrible time " I imagine if you ever spoke with those people you would discover that everything in their lives is negative. I agree with you the worst day cruising is still better than work J&P http://escati.linkopp.net/cgi-bin/countdown.cgi?trgb=000000&srgb=00ff00&prgb=800080&cdt=2004;11;22;17;30;00&timezone=GMT-0500' alt='countdown.cgi?trgb=000000&srgb=00ff00&prgb=800080&cdt=2004;11;22;17;30;00&timezone=GMT-0500'>
