Quiet Caribbean Food Restaurant in Nassau

We're visiting in a couple of weeks and are looking for a restaurant for lunch.  Prefer walking distance from the cruise dock.  Definitely want local Caribbean food and not too LOUD 😉   All suggestions appreciated.

I second that!  I have been there and it's delicious.  Easy walk, but not crowded with cruisers.  Service was delightful.  Excellent lunch, I felt reasonably priced.

You can try fish fry, it's just a five minute bus ride.

I recommend the fish fry, Arawak Cay, as well.  Outstanding food and just a quick ride.  You can walk, but Nassau can be a bit iffy and taking a cab or the bus will be safer.  Be sure to take cash, American $$ is just fine.  When we went we ate at the dark brown restaurant and the waitresses had on orange uniforms.  The fresh conch salad was incredible!

We went to Bahamian Cookin'.  Not as touristy as some places, mix of locals and tourists, some locals picking up lunch to go.  Good food, generous portions, reasonable prices, friendly staff.
