gkrnjlr Posted February 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2006 I know that Carnival has it where you put down a deposit and then the final balance is due however many days (90?) before sailing......are there other cruiselines that do that, too? Big Al B. Posted February 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2006 I think most of the cruise lines have this policy. Many people book cruises well in advance and the deposit holds their booking for them. Since prices can fluctuate, this gives people a chance to try for a lower price if the rates go down. 90 days is about right.
immargaret Posted February 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2006 NCL does this as well. I believe holiday cruises are 90 days, and regular dates are 75 days out that you must have your final payment made by. :)
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2006 Yes, all of the cruise lines are like that. Keith
Cotton Posted February 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2006 On Carnival - For 5 night or less cruises, final payment is due 60 days prior to cruise date. For 7 night or longer cruises, final payment is due 75 days prior to cruise date.
gone_cruisin Posted February 5, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2006 This may be a stupid question, but since I've never booked with the cruiseline directly.......are the deposits refundable up to a certain date or do I just lose it if I cancel? Happy ks Posted February 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 5, 2006 Whenever you book a cruise, whether it is through a land office TA, internet, directly with the cruise line, there will always be a deposit. You will get a confirmation, outlining the final payment date. If you cancel before that date, the deposit is usually fully refundable. There are a few TA's out there who charge a cancellation fee, however, so be careful to read your contract before giving a deposit.
gone_cruisin Posted February 5, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2006 Thanks......I guess I'm used to making full payment at time of booking.
gkrnjlr Posted February 6, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted February 6, 2006 Thanks for all the responses. This definitely does open up the idea of traveling with others because I love to lock in a rate and then pay on it slowly!
