bazzaw Posted January 29, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2020 Will be there on Cunard Queen Elizabeth. Does anybody know if the port/ships put on a shuttle bus to the town area? It looks like a Commercial port where the ship berths.
BruceMuzz Posted January 29, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2020 As incredibly friendly and welcoming that most Japanese ports are to cruise ship arrivals, Kanazawa is even more so. Every time my ship calls there, the entire town shows up to welcome us and then again to see us off. Typically they have gifts for all my guests, special Hapi Coats for anyone celebrating a birthday, free shuttle buses for guests and crew into the city. On our last call, they lined up automobiles along the coast in the evening, shining their headlights out to sea, and installed giant speakers playing Auld Lang Syne as we sailed away.
bazzaw Posted January 29, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted January 29, 2020 WONDERFUL!! Thank you for that info. What is "my ship" - are you a crew member? 🙂 Good info about the shuttle buses. I can see it is about 5Klms to the train station and was intending to probably walk it - but will be on our feet all day in this tow n as there seems to be LOTS to see. Frankly I had never even hard of Kanazawa before we booked this cruise- but it is looking possibly like the highlight of the cruise!! 🙂
BruceMuzz Posted January 29, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2020 I have called there on 5 different ships with 5 different cruise lines. I have been a Senior Officer on all 5 ships.
