  1. I really enjoyed both of these islands. Particularly if you are a history buff, you will enjoy seeing the fort in St. Kitts and Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua.
  2. Many years ago, my husband, son, and I went to the upper level of the theater for a show. There were about 5 people in the whole level. There were tons of empty seats. I had placed my evening bag on the empty seat next to me. A couple entered the room, and in a huff the woman came right next to me and sat on top of my bag, saying "You are not supposed to save seats!" To this day I do not know how I restrained myself.
  3. I just cancelled a cruise that was going to Brazil (on another cruise line) because they require US citizens to apply for an eVisa where you have to send bank statements to prove you can "financially support" you stay in the country.
  4. I am booked on a cruise in April. Should I download the app now or wait till the new one? Does it matter?
  5. I broken-heartedly and with a few tears cancelled my March 9 Voyager cruise over this issue. My financial advisor advised me not to send this info to Brazil. This may be extreme, but I was truly uncomfortable doing so and did not want to take on the stressful application process that so many seem to be experiencing. I hope all of you get good results and have a wonderful cruise. I will be following along in spirit. This was to be our fist Regent cruise and I hope I can rebook another in the near future.
  6. For what it's worth, I have applied for visas for many countries over the years, including China, India, Egypt, and one in southeast Asia that I am not sure about, maybe Laos? Providing flight info is common, but I have never been asked for financial records. This is a deal-breaker for me. My financial advisor said it would be beyond stupid to send personal information like this to a foreign country. I shred my statements before I put them in my trash! I am certainly not sending them off to be seen by who knows who! Hoping that Brazil will modify the Visa requirements for cruise passengers.
  7. Frankly I am aghast at the requirement to prove financial stability. I am seriously considering cancelling the cruise.
  8. That is the stuff of which some of the most memorable and funny travel experiences are made, after the fact of course!
  9. Many years ago I was on a cruise with my then 12 year old son. He loved jigsaw puzzles and completed the one in progress in the common area. An older grump passed by and made a very rude comment that children should should not be allowed to play with the puzzles!
  10. If you don't get Regent Air, can you purchase a transfer to the airport?
  11. We went to the Amazon last April on Aqua Expeditions. It rained a LOT. The Cruise line supplied thick waterproof ponchos and rain boots, as well as mosquito repellent, when necessary. We ended up needing them more than we would have preferred. At this time of year, the mosquitoes were insanely prevalent. I had brought a mosquito netting shirt which I was so grateful for! (Others ended up purchasing them during the trip.) A lightweight poncho and mosquito protective clothing take up little luggage space and are worth their weight in gold if you end up needing them. Foot note: (no pun intended) You will get muddy and dirty on land excursions. Give thought to your shoes.
  12. Agree that going to the Baths at Virgin Gorda is worth it only if there are not a lot of other pax there. We did this a few years ago on another cruise line - very large ship. The line to walk through the baths was so long that we skipped it. We did enjoy the beach. Wear good shoes for the hike down and back up. It was a little slippery in parts. I am glad I went there (I like to see everything!) but I would not return.
  13. "they are well fed 40 lbs of food a day, a bit like us on the cruise!!" this made me laugh out loud!
  14. You can also tour the Royal Palace. Another fun, easy thing to do is the Oceanographic Museum.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanographic_Museum_of_Monaco Very interesting and much more than fish.
  15. I totally agree! I hate apps on cruises. I really enjoy having the printed schedules.
  16. Thanks so much everyone. This is a big benefit!
  17. We are booked on our first Regent Cruise, on the Voyager. I read on another thread that a woman on the Mariner requested her dress to be air-dried. Can we customize our laundry like this on the Voyager? I prefer most of my clothes not to be put in a dryer, and I like them washed in cold water.
  18. I was at Harvest Caye a few years ago. The pool was very nicely designed, zero depth, with little curves and shade. My friend and I did the "fish spa" and enjoyed it. The "Beach" was awful - very rough. It wasn't sand - some type of ground up shells. No way could you go barefoot. Just my 2 cents worth.
  19. We are new to Regent We are booked on Buenos Aires to Rio on Voyager departing March 9, 2024. We have the included pre-cruise hotel night in Buenos Aires. When will Regent announce which hotel we will be staying at? I have learned so much from this forum and appreciate all the input!
