Rare Solent Richard Posted January 30, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2020 I have recently returned from an exceptional 10 day river cruise that followed the Upper Mekong through Laos. It was with a company that was new to me called Pandaw. The Upper Mekong is so different to the Mekong that flows between Siem Reap and Saigon and it is well worth consideration. I have written a very comprehensive review on my Cruise Blog covering both the ship and the FULL itinerary. Here is the link... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2020/01/30/fifty-shades-of-green-laos-mekong-river-cruise/ I'd be delighted to answer any questions. ***** *****
kayakcove Posted January 31, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Thank you for posting your review. It does appear to be an interesting option. Did you encounter water level issues you felt related to dams upstream? I was thinking the rapids could have been even more challenging with higher water levels. I have seen several recent articles about how the fluctuating levels have impacted the river. We are 13 days out from starting our trip on the lower Mekong with 8 days of land extension with AMA. AlRajul Posted May 10, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2020 Hi SolentRichard, Great blog, we are due to do the Majestic Mekong mid Sept with Pandaw. As you can imagine we are having second thoughts about going due to Covid -19. Our final balance is due shortly, so lots to think about!
