disappointed re: scheduling

We will be joining Voyager as it journeys to Vietnam.

Since Hanoi is such a major destination, it is difficult

to understand why Radisson scheduled to be there on a

day of the week [Monday] when ALL musuems are closed!

So it's a 3 hour drive into and out of Hanoi but all museums

are shuttered!

How do they always manage it?

I remember one Princess cruise in the early 90's when we had the same experience in almost every port....shops closed in Monte Carlo, museums closed in Barcelona, etc., and the casino closed in Gibralter. There was a mucky-muck royalty on board who was high up in the Princess line, who took the microphone after dinner and announced that, since the schedulers had done such a terrible job the Casino and shops on board would be open even though we were in port....and they were!

Hope you'll find enough to enjoy in port without the museums, although I can understand this is a huge disappointment.

I guess when they need to get from point A to B, it's just a matter of the calendar falling where is does with ports! Are you saying that on that 10hr. excursion that is on the website, you won't be able to visit the places they have scheduled for visits? I too would be disappointed. In looking to 2007, I noticed there was not much time in V.N. at all on the WC. As much as I want to see Vietnam, 2007 doesn't seem to have much, as I remember.

I also noticed a decrease in alloted time in Vietnam in the 2007 schedule. Don't know what the message is.

I realize that ships go from pt A to B and also have been in a variety of ports on Sundays or other days when things were shuttered........but since Vietnam is a major focus of this tour, I am somewhat perplexed

to arrive Hanoi on a Monday when ALL museums are closed. To us, it's

a bit like arriving in St Petersburg when all museums are closed.

Incidentally, a lot of the 10 hour tour is taken up by travel [3 hours in each direction],bathroom stops and lunch.......so if someone is really interested in spending time in Hanoi,. they probably need to consider a land based trip. I'm not certain why the ship remains there overnight as the next day one is not able to tour.

It's also a 2hr ride @ way from port to Hoi An. And another journey to reach the town where the Mekong Delta tour begins.

so, we're learning a lot about distances!
