Praise for Azamara’s attention to sanitation and safety

In the past 9 months we have sailed on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas (grandkids), Azamara Pursuit, and the Celebrity Eclipse.

Anecdotally, if we were to rank the ships based upon their attention to safety and sanitation Pursuit would easily be first, Eclipse second, and Allure would lag the field.

When we attended the ship evacuation drill on Allure, both the setting and those attending did not lead to attention to detail. There were constant distractions.

Celebrity’s process provided more focus but, in our minds, Pursuit set the standard.

The same was true of sanitation. Nothing compares to Azamara’s policy of the “fist bump”, nor the constant emphasis on using the hand sanitizers and washing them thoroughly.

I’m not certain if the differences are primarily a result of policy and practice, ship size, or the demographic on board.

Regardless, at this moment when the sanitation issue in particular may be top of mind for some of us, Azamara impresses.
