Gift Cards

And in answer to your question No, RC gift cards cannot be used for purchases. They also can't be used once you are actually on the ship. So don't bring it expecting to use it onboard. From what I have read, gift cards are sort of a hassle to use with Royal Caribbean.

As a frequent carnival cruiser I’ve used gift cards to pay for cruises (even via a TA), to pay for onboard expenses, tips, even at the casino. It amazes me that a company as large as RC could make it so difficult to use its own gift card.
