Bumping for charters

Having been lurking over at seabourn there is a long discussion on "bumping" for charters.

What is everyone's experience with this? Has anyone had it happen to them? How close to departure?

I saw in their conditions that they have the right to cancel your booking in the event of a charter with full refund..or to move you to another cruise. Changing cruises for us would not be an option?

Thoughts and discussions please.

I have had two sailings of Silversea were I was booked and then the sailing was chartered. One was about a year in advance, the other about 9 months or so. Sivlersea will give you a discount (20%-ish) on another sailing. Also its not transferrable if you sail the following year. I have been booked on a specific Med sailing for two years now and I have yet to take it, here is hoping for 2007! I love SS so much, I just take charters with a grain of salt these days...
